FAQs

making sure you have got it

We tend to get asked the same questions by customers during their first visit to our salon. We have put some of them below in the hope they might be of help to you:

WHAT ARE LASH EXTENSIONS?
Lash extensions are single strands of synthetic mink that mimic real lashes . They are applied individually to your most mature natural lashes close to the lash line.
They come in many lengths, colors, curls and diameters. Lash extensions are perfect for day to day wear or for that Special event.
ARE LASH EXTENSIONS SAFE?
Yes they are if they are done properly. It is important to have them applied by a highly trained and Certified Lash artist.
Upon arrival we will sit down together, go over some paperwork and talk about your desires and expectations. The next part is where we come in. It is our number one priority to maintain the integrity of your natural lashes at all times. Your lash artist will know how to select the proper extensions based on the strength and length of your natural lash.
ARE LASH EXTENSIONS FOR EVERYONE?

They are not for everyone. Lash extensions are a luxury service. The products used at Discover lash are the best on the market. Our advanced education is something we pride ourselves in and taking short cuts is not an option. You only have one set of eyes. They are worth the investment of quality products.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING LASH EXTENSIONS?
Most women get lash extensions to lengthen their own lashes. Some get lashes to darken their own naturally blonde-lashes. The extensions are wider at the base and taper up to a point thus giving you the appearance of fuller lashes.
With lashes, you look more rested and bright eyed thereby creating a more youthful look.
They are weightless and look as if they were your own. All sets are customized to suit your face beautifully. We take several things into consideration. For instance, if you have a sad eye we can help lift it by strategically placing the extensions in the appropriate position. If you have thin, fragile and gappy lashes, we can fix that as well with a beautiful set of volume lashes. (See menu of services)
One of the best advantages of having extensions is the time you save getting ready for the day. Your makeup regimen will be cut in half as you will not need to curl your lashes or apply the dreaded mascara.
HOW LONG WILL THEY LAST?
Your natural lashes shed just like your hair sheds. Your extensions will shed out with your own lashes. It is for this reason that we recommend coming in for a touch up every 2-3 weeks max.
It is perfectly normal to loose 1-5 lashes a day PER EYE!
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY NEW LASHES?
We encourage you to clean them daily. Even if you do not wear makeup. Your eyelids have a natural amount of oil in them, along with airborne impurities and dust, this makes for a dirty lash line. We ask that you use an oil free makeup cleanser which we can provide for you. You will be shown how to do this. Its a piece of cake!
Treat your eyes as if you had makeup on and do not want to smudge it. No harsh side to side rubbing of the lashes.
You will be shown during your consultation exactly how to care for them and will be sent home with a few goodies to help you do so.
We want you to leave us feeling confident in the after care which is one of the reasons we feel so strongly about a thorough consultation. This is a very personalized service and we are ALWAYS to answer any questions you may have.
One note of caution: I hear countless stories of individuals who go to an under-trained lash artist but “licensed” because the cost is low. They receive a substandard set of lashes that are painful and clumpy and often damaging to their natural lashes. A proper application of lashes is never painful during or after the procedure. It should be a very relaxing experience. The eyelash extension application is a precise process that takes skill and time. If the cost is very inexpensive, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well as the quality of the products being used. These same individuals often end up seeking out another eyelash extension artist after they try the cheap alternatives. This ends up costing them a lot more than they ever anticipated as they need to have them fixed. Unfortunately, most have realized from experience that the adage you get what you pay for is often true.
